We’re a Micro Business. Yep, Really…
Let’s get this out of the way first.
We’re a micro business. Not a “small business” in the polished, feel-good, business-school sense but Micro.
There are actual people here. Not a team of 47 departments, not a warehouse full of robots, and definitely not a chatbot pretending to have a personality.
And yes, we answer the phone.
We know.
Revolutionary.
We invest time and effort into every email and every quote we provide to any customer because we care. We come from a time where talking to a person about something you are buying is normal and not something you have to beg for. A team of 5 people running an Ecommerce store and providing quotes and responses in an efficient amount of time is the least of our worries.
Are we perfect? No. But do we try? Yes.
You Can Actually Talk to Us
If you have a question about a product on our website, call us- we answer the phone as quickly and efficiently as we can. We may be away from the phone but we return phone calls to real people buying real products. Seriously. You don’t have to figure everything out yourself, stare at six nearly identical product descriptions, read 14 reviews from people who used the product for something completely different, and then hope you picked the right thing. This is why we encourage people to just call and Ask us. We should be experts on the items we sell and with over 20 years in the eco-friendly universe, we think we’ve got it down to a science. Simply put: Help people.
We know our products. And if we don’t know the answer, we’ll tell you that, too—and then we’ll try to find out more or other options that might fit better within the request you’re making. That’s what happens when you’re a micro business. You can’t hide behind a giant customer-service machine. We are the machine that keeps the computer and the lights on.
And We Might Tell You Not to Buy Something
Here’s where things get a little weird for an online store. Sometimes we’ll tell you not to buy the product you’re asking about. WNot becuase we do not want your business, it’s because something else might be a better solution for you. We’ve seen it time and time again where customers wanted to do something completely different from the item they are purchasing. We’ve found that it might not be right for what you’re trying to do so when we inquire about your project, it’s to make sure the items you are spending your hard earned money on is exactly what you want. In the long run, it saves us and you time and money.
Maybe there’s a better solution.
Maybe you need something different.
Maybe what you’re trying to accomplish isn’t going to work with that particular product.
We’re okay saying that.
Would we rather sell you something? Sure. We are a business, after all. But we’d rather have you come back because we helped you than never come back because we sold you something that didn’t solve your problem.
That’s the advantage of talking to a person who knows the products. And luckily… we do.
We Sell Some Pretty Interesting Stuff
Our products aren’t necessarily the things you’re going to see stacked ten feet high in every big-box store. That’s part of the fun. We look for products that can help people conserve water, save resources, reuse materials, garden more sustainably, and generally make some smarter choices about the things they buy.
Some are practical.
Some are clever.
Some are a little unusual.
And every once in a while, we find something and think:
“Why doesn’t everybody know about this?”
Then we put it on the website.
That’s one of the reasons Conserv-A-Store exists in the first place. We’re interested in products that do something useful—especially when they can help people conserve resources without requiring them to completely reorganize their lives. We want to incorporate our products into your life not make it another task that needs to be completed on your “honey to do” list. We are intentional with our selection and protective of your interest. We don’t do this for you, we do this WITH you.
“Green” Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated
We aren’t here to tell you that you need to move into a treehouse, grow all your own food, and stop using electricity. Although, if that’s your thing, we support your enthusiasm. For most people, sustainability happens one decision at a time. You spot a problem in your house and now you’re investigating how to solve the problem. You come across us and now we’re in a pickle of a problem that needs to be fixed.
Maybe you want to use less water.
Maybe you want a product made from recycled materials.
Maybe you’re looking for a way to make your garden more sustainable.
Maybe you’re trying to solve a very specific problem and discovered that the normal solution seems wasteful but that’s all that’s offered on the market.
That’s where we come in. We’ll help you look at your options. Explore other things that we might not have tried or even products we may not have in our warehouse. Granted this usually doesn’t happen, but if it just so happens that we don’t have it, we’ll point you to the right direction.
No, We Don’t Promise Everything Tomorrow
Here’s another thing we probably should admit. We aren’t promising that everything you order will magically appear on your doorstep tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately, We’re not built that way. We are not the big box brand with a smile on the box, we’re normal people, with two hands that carry the items into the post office and ship it to you. Some of the products we carry are specialized. Some come from different manufacturers. Some require a little more coordination. And sometimes, frankly, real life gets in the way. We’re not a giant fulfillment machine; though we would like to operate better, we are doing our best.
We’re people.
So while we may not win the “Who Can Put a Box on Your Porch Fastest?” competition, we’re pretty comfortable with what we do offer:
Someone you can talk to who knows what they’re selling. We’ll take that trade any day.
We Don’t Want to Be a Robot
There is a lot of talk these days about AI, automation, chatbots, faster everything, and making every interaction as frictionless as possible. We get it. Technology is useful. We use it too. But we’re not interested in making Conserv-A-Store feel like you’ve wandered into a conversation with a very polite robot. If you have a question, we’d like you to be able to ask it. If your situation is unusual, tell us. If you don’t know what product you need, explain the problem.
If you’re looking at one of our products and thinking, “I have absolutely no idea if this is going to work,” that’s actually a pretty good reason to call.
And Here’s the Funny Part About Being Micro When you’re a giant company, you can probably afford to have a department for everything. We don’t. Which means the same people who know the products may also be answering questions, solving problems, talking to customers, researching products, and figuring out why something on the website is doing something weird that it definitely wasn’t doing yesterday. It’s not glamorous. But it’s real.
And we think there’s something pretty great about that.
We’d Rather Help You Than Just Sell to You
That’s really the whole thing. We want you to find products that make sense for your situation.
Sometimes that means buying something from us. Sometimes it means asking us a question first. Sometimes it means buying something completely different. We’re okay with that. Because we don’t want Conserv-A-Store to be just another website where you type something into a search box, click “add to cart,” and hope for the best.
We want to be a place where you can learn something, ask a question, find an interesting product, and talk to an actual human being.
Remember…
We’re a micro business.
We’re interested in conservation and sustainability.
We carry products that we think are useful, interesting, and worth knowing about.
We know our products.
We answer the phone.
We answer questions.
We sometimes talk people out of buying something.
We don’t promise next-day delivery on the entire planet.
And we’re perfectly happy admitting that we’re real people doing our best to run a business we care about.
That’s us.
No corporate mission statement required.
So Go Ahead. Ask Us.
Not sure which product you need?
Ask.
Not sure whether something will work for your project?
Ask.
Trying to find a more sustainable option?
Ask.
Confused by something on our website?
Definitely ask.
You don’t have to know exactly what you need before you contact us.
That’s kind of the point.
We’re here to help.
And if we can save you some water, reduce some waste, find a product you didn’t know existed, or simply keep you from buying the wrong thing, even better.
We’re a micro business.
And we’re proud of it.
Conserv-A-Store — real people, useful products, and somebody who will actually answer the phone.
