Green Investing Report by Conserv-A-Store week ending 9/7/12 – Wind Company Update

In today’s Green Investing Report by Conservastore we focus on the wind industry and how the Chinese have really dictated how the Cleantech industry has been steered since the worldwide  recession began
The real kicker is that the Chinese were able to fund their Green businesses with government monies while the largely private sector European and US companies got less funding from their governments.
It’s odd how the non Green industries get major funding from the US government to often create a product such as oil and gas which is non sustainable and pollutes. But that’s for another blogpost

Here are excerpts from  an article from the FT on one of our Green Investing holdings, the Danish wind power maker Vestas

1.”Vestas has become the poster child for the woes of the wind industry.
Sinking public subsidies around the world coupled with the rise of Chinese turbine manufacturers has hit this government-supported industry hard.”

2. But it appears as though some of the problems with Vestas were company specific

“You have a company with little cost control, inadequate capital control and in some of their factories no operational control. It is business school 101 on how not to run a company,” says Martin Prozesky, analyst at Bernstein Research in London.

3. Now there is “News last week that the Danish group is in talks over a “potential strategic co-operation” with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
